The Earth Synergy Initiative (esi) was established in 2025 to provide a catalytic, regionally focused platform for biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental governance. Although newly registered, esi has already begun to make its mark by facilitating the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development’s strategy workshop in Ghana, leading the implementation of Strategy 6 of the Western Chimpanzee Action Plan, contributing to preparations for the WEN-5 meeting under CITES, and partnering with the Abidjan Convention and CMS to develop an aquatic wildlife action plan. In parallel, esi has produced its first policy brief, is preparing a paper on the role of women and children in NTFP value chains, and is analysing vegetation inventory data for the transboundary landscapes between Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Côte d’Ivoire.
